Retired From The Chattanooga Fire Department After 25 Years

Donnie Drew, 75, of East Brainerd, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023, after a long battle with diabetes, kidney failure and many surgeries.

A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Donnie retired from the Chattanooga Fire Department after 25 years of service and also retired from the National Disaster Medical System.

After his retirement Donnie worked as a farrier for many years and had a great loved for horses.

Donnie loved his family and friends fiercely and we rejoice in knowing that he is now at peace in heaven.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Drew Knowles; and his sisters, Sharon Drew and Barbara Richardson.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Anne Drew; daughter, Christy (Rodney) Westmoreland, Chattanooga; sister, Myra Debord, Noble, Ga.; three grandchildren, Blake (Jelena) Knowles, Stephen (Jessica) Knowles, Alexandria Westmoreland; four great-grandchildren, Evan Knowles, Jacob Knowles, Gaige (Sarah) Henderson, and Pearl Knowles; many special nephews, niece, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Members of the Disaster Medical Team serving as pallbearers.

The family would like to thank Michael McLaughlin and Jackie Conway for all of their love and care during Donnie’s illness.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 5-7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road.
