Joyce and I were good friends in early junior high. We used to listen to the Beatles and decide which one we would marry when we grew up. Sadly, we fell out of touch over the years. She was a lovely person and will be missed! Rest in peace my friend.

I have thought about Joyce over the years and wondered if her life was good.  She was not only a classmate but a neighbor as well.  We frequently would walk home from school together and chat all the way.  She was a very nice and fun friend.

Beth, those are my memories when I think of Joyce.  I remember so well talking about the Beatles and which one we thought was most handsome, as well as which one we would marry.  Often we would pretend to be members of the Beatles and sing along with the songs.  Of course, more than just me wanted to be Paul. I'm so sorry to hear of Joyce's death; it's sad we just drifted out of touch with each other.  Joyce was a wonderful and kind person and holds a special place in my memory and in my heart.  Prayers for her family and friends.

I worked with Joyce at Bonds Drug Store in N. Chattanooga in our senior year, along with Wanda Wooden. I wrote a whimsical poem about Joyce and she took it pretty good. I am sad to learn of her passing... Rest In Peace, Joyce...

Joyce was a close friend of mine in junior high. She and I were both very shy back then until you got us in private. She had the best sense of humor! At slumber parties, she was fun and crazy and a wicked pillow-fighter. I loved it when she let loose because she had one of the best laughs. The summer between junior high and our first year at City, Joyce, Jan Rucker and I attended a summer band session at City High. One day during this "band class" I asked Jan and Joyce what they wanted my mother to bring them for lunch. To this day I can still visualize Joyce's reply, "A mustard sandwich." Of course I thought she was kidding, but she was dead serious. I'd never heard of such a thing!! But Mom obliged and made her a mustard sandwich and dropped it off along with whatever "normal" sandwiches Jan and I requested. I still laugh when I think about how calmly Joyce said, "a mustard sandwich," and then just smiled so smuggly, daring me to call her "crazy." Sure wish I could share those times with her in person. She was extremely sweet, selfless and a delight to be around and I will always miss her.
