A wonderful musician and guitarist who played for a number of bands including James Brown and Curtis Mayfield. John's first stroke paralyzed his entire left side. He relearned to do everything with his right hand including playing the guitar and has paintings hanging in an Orlando museum. John had never painted before the stroke. He traveled to The Holy Land with his church and refused to stay in his hotel while the group took the rugged tour by foot. It is said that approaching a most difficult hill to climb, again, he was asked to take the trolley. John refused and quoted the scripture "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". Join was a devout Christian Jew who loved God and went home to God while playing the drums in his beloved church choir on a Sunday morning!
