Fredrick Leland “Fred” Gann, 68, of Soddy Daisy, died on April 4, 2016 after a valiant battle with a long illness. 

His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area. He was a member of Grace Calvary Chapel and retired from Norfolk Southern Railway. He was a graduate of City High School Class of 1966 where he was an all-city lineman for the Dynamos. He was also a devout fan of the 
University of Tennessee Volunteers. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus H. and Dorothy Prichard Gann. 

Fred is survived by his wife of 34 years, Cindy Langley Gann; one son, Brandon (Kristen) Gann; one daughter, Brittany Gann; one brother, Thomas W. (Tracey) Gann; three sisters, Carolyn Gann Brown, Clara G. (David) Steele and Becky G. (Danny) Stafford; and four grandchildren, Elise, Makenzie, Mason and Emmalyn. 

Services for Fred will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 8, in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Lawson officiating. 

Burial will follow in Soddy Presbyterian Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, and on Friday, April 8, 2016, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Beth George (Hightower) (1968)

"Freddy" was the one guy you could always count on to make you laugh everyday. He was truly a social butterfly and a great guy. His joking and laughter was contagious! Sorry he is gone. I know is missed.
