James Randall Anderson, 74, of Woodstock, Georgia passed peacefully on January 9, 2023 at Northside Cherokee Hospital after a brief illness.

Born January 10, 1948, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Randall was the son of the late Emmett Hugh Anderson and Catherine McCall Anderson. Randall was predeceased by his brother, Lamar Anderson. Randall graduated from Chattanooga High School in 1966 and enrolled in the University of Tennessee. In 1968, Randall enlisted in the Air Force and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. Upon his discharge in December 1972, Randall joined IBM as a copier/typewriter service technician. Later, Randall moved to IBM’s software business. Upon his retirement from IBM in 2005, Randall was a Websphere technical sales representative. Randall continued to work in IT until 2013.

In his spare time, Randall enjoyed working on a variety of projects -- from building a boat with his Dad, finishing a basement and replacing a deck. Randall appreciated time in the outdoors whether it be hiking or canoeing. He and his wife Elizabeth took several cruises. Trips to Gatlinburg, the Great Smokies, Asheville and Civil War battlefields were among the favorite destinations.

Randall is survived by his wife of 32 years Elizabeth of Woodstock; sons David of Gainesville and Brian of Woodstock; his sister Carolyn (Jack) of Hixson, Tennessee; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

As per his wishes, Randall’s body is to be cremated and there will be no funeral service. Internment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the charity of one’s choice.

Woodstock Funeral Home of Woodstock, Georgia is serving the family. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.woodstockfuneralhome.com for the Anderson family.
