I grew up with Janis and can remember her as far back as early elementry school. Our parents were friends and we lived close together..... if you figure close as hiking through the woods and not by road. She was always so happy and made me feel happy just to be around her. I ran across her somewhere not long before she died, and while it was apparent something wasn't right I had no idea how serious it was. She was still the same old smiling girl I had known so long. Even though I may have only seen her 5 or 6 times after High School, it hit pretty hard when I heard she had gone, and still bothers me to this day. Funny how you can miss someone that you had almost completely lost touch with.
