The news of Dewey's passing came across my email today. I don't look at the web site often but felt compelled to post. Dewey was a class act if there ever was one. He was a great leader and a great guy and friend in high school. He had a great life with Teresa and his children and grandkids. We spoke at length at the last reunion on the river boat and reconnected, talking about old times. He will be missed by all who knew him.
I am heartbroken at the news of Dewey and have been thinking about him constantly since I got the text from Terry Switzer.
Dewey was such a sweetheart and meant so much to all of us. My thoughts and prayers are for beautiful Teresa and the family.
He was an outstanding man and will be missed greatly.

Like everyone else, I was shocked to hear that Dewey had passed. I've known Dewey since we were in the 7th grade and I have to admit I was disappointed when he retired because I knew I wouldn't be running in to him in downtown restaurants at lunch anymore, which always made my day. He was the epitome of a Southern Gentleman. Dewey loved City High School and worked hard to bring us all together for every reunion. I may have been the President of the class for one year, but Dewey Roberson was the MAYOR of the class of '72! Rest in Peace, Dewey, we all miss you.
I just finished watching Dewey's Celebration of Life on his church' livestream. He was always a good man, but I think this only increased over the years. Eddie and Dewey's children gave wonderful testaments. I have been active on the last two reunion committees, and we, quite frankly , wouldn't have had reunions without Dewey's work on these committees. He and Teresa loved each other deeply - you just understood that without any need for explanation. I can't imagine the world without him. We will have a 50th reunion next year come hell or high water, but I don't know how we'll pull it together without Dewey. I like what Bill said below....Dewey was the Mayor of the CHS Class of '72. My heart goes out to everyone who loved this good man, especially Teresa, Eddie and the family. May you Rest in Peace, old friend.
As Hannah said, today's service for Dewey was a beautiful testament to his life. Although I didn't know him well, Dewey always struck me as a person of integrity. The outpouring of love and respect displayed by his family, friends, and community today showed the powerful impact of Dewey's life on others. He walked the walk, and truly made a difference while he was with us. Dewey will be missed by many, especially his CHS '72 classmates.
